Greetings y Saludos!
I am always very happy to share what a jewel in the community BAHIA, Inc. is and how special our programs are to many children and families. Perhaps, if you have come to visit our website it is because you are interested in BAHIA and/or have heard great things about our children’s programs and want to learn more. My staff and I are very happy to share BAHIA with you via our website. You may also call us to schedule a time to visit.
If you want to know a bit more about how we have evolved please read our History/Accomplishments section. BAHIA is unique in the community and in the Bay Area. When we say we are “one of the only” it is because it is true. Since 1975, BAHIA is one of the only Latino nonprofits focusing services, resources and advocacy on bilingual child care and education. This focus has allowed us to be specific and intentional in our program services and to grow our organization from one program to four. Our intentions are to ensure that program services continue to grow with the population and community interested in receiving bilingual care and education for their children.
Whether you are attending Centro VIDA or Academia de Centro VIDA in Fremont, or La Academia de Bahia, our part-time bilingual preschool in Berkeley or Bahia School Age Program, you will know you are home and that your children are in a safe and nurturing learning place. Our children’s program and curriculum includes a plan for caring, learning in Spanish and English while also supporting each child’s learning, growing, readiness for school and ensuring that our school age children are at their appropriate reading level. We are able to accomplish all this because of dedicated leadership and a true commitment to BAHIA’s mission and vision and strive to provide the highest quality of care. We are fortunate to have dedicated staff that are experienced, professional and very special in the field. Our teaching staff averages well over 10 years with the organization. So come on by – come see for yourself what is so unique about our programs. We look forward to answering any of your questions whether as a friend, volunteer, a colleague interested in our programs, a funder or a potential parent. Please contact us, we are fond of saying to all of our children and families, in BAHIA – “you always have a home here with us.” - “Nuestra casa es su casa!”
